Opening Ceremony July 3rd, 8:00 pmCapitol Main Stage Imagine yourself sitting in a courthouse in Philadelphia on a summer day in 1776 watching as a group of prominent and influential men put the finishing touches on what will become one of the United States’ most sacred documents. This July 3rd , in 2010, you will have a chance to witness a re-enactment of that momentous day 234 years ago when a troupe of actors in authentic period costume perform the Signing of the Declaration of Independence at the Naught-Naught Agency’s Opening Ceremonies. This all-volunteer group hails from Poplar Bluff and all are members of the Palace of Praise Church. The docudrama is the original work of historian and re-enactor Mark Faughn who plays Samuel Adams. Among the 19 in the cast of characters, guests will also experience notables figures from our nation’s past like John Hancock, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Betsy Ross. The Naught-Naught Agency Opening Ceremony will begin Saturday, July 3, at 8 pm on the Capitol Main Stage with prelude music at 7:30. Rod Smith will serve as Master of Ceremonies. This year bring your family to the Naught-Naught Agency Opening Ceremony to witness a historic moment from the birth of our great nation. The experience will undoubtedly have a profound effect on the audience’s understanding of the liberties and freedoms we now enjoy.
