High Street Happy Hour

Kick-off your independence with special offers from all your favorite downtown bars and restaurants. Look for lots of café seating perfect for people watching and great entertainment throughout.

 

The Missouri Spirits Boulevard beer garden will open with your hosts, the Jefferson City Jaycees. Enjoy a variety of Boulevard Brewing Company beers and Mike’s Hard Lemonade plus live on stage.

Tri-Dimensional

This eclectic group of young Jazz musicians will delight audiences with their contemporary sound.  The band includes Hermon Mehari who has been playing trumpet for seven years. He was in the All-State Jazz Band and went to Jefferson City High School. Hermon attends UMKC as a jazz studies major. Brian Steever handles the drummer and is a graduate of Helias High School. He was in the All-State Jazz Band plays a lot around the mid Missouri area. Zach Beeson plays the bass. He just graduated from Rock Bridge High School in Columbia and studies music at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Embarq Grand 'Ol Flag Parade

Featuring four generations of dedicated military family the Loethens as Parade Marshall, the 2007 Little Mr. & Miss Contest Winners, antique tractors, Drum line, floats, clowns, a camel and much more!

 

Parade route: From East Miller to north on Monroe to west on High to south on Jefferson to east on East Miller. Viewing stand on the DowntownJeffersonCity.com stage at High & Madison.

River Region Credit Union/News Tribune Little Mister & Miss Independence Contest

Watch as 4-6 year old boys and girls compete for the honor of representing the Salute to America Festival in 2009.

Q106.1 Street dance featuring Bobby Showers and the Beatbox

Bobby Showers and the Beatbox is a native Jefferson City band combining acoustic and electric guitars, beat box, live drum beats, turntables and harmonicas to create a sound that represents the best of today’s current music scene. The Beatbox staring Bobby on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica and beatbox, Jon Hagood on lead and acoustic guitars, Justin Steele on drums and Sam Walker on turntables plays original and cover songs ranging from Americana, pop, folk rock, blues, folk hop and R&B. Winner of the Lion-palooza Battle of the Bands

Opening the day will be the yet-to-be determined 2008 winners of the Lion-palooza’s Battle of the Bands contest winner. This contest held June 28 at the Y is hosted by the Jefferson City Breakfast Lion’s Club and spotlights talented high school, amateur ‘garage bands’ from our community.

100.1 the Buzz Presents: Best Buy Guitar Hero Contest 2008

(registration open to first 40 contestants: 11 am to 12:30 pm)

Hey! Are you a rock star wannabe? Then you need to enter the Best Buy Guitar Hero Contest 2008. This bracketed event will pit you against other players with pro-face-off music selections chosen at random. The winners of each leg advances to the next level until you ultimately battle for the title and win a great prize courtesy of Best Buy.

%100 Juice and “The Squeeze”

%100 Juice is a modern blues and rock band with classic influences stemming from deep down in the roots of blues, rock and soul. Juice members include Ryan Tomlinson on lead guitar and vocals and Quinten Rice on drums and backup vocals. While “the Squeeze” part of the band may change from gig to gig, count on Dale Sapp sitting in on lead and rhythm guitar and who knows who else.

Cold Blue

Tim Taylor and Lonnie Simmons of Jefferson City together have been serving up the blues since 1994.  Explosive and searing electric guitar, electric slide guitar and blues harmonica backed by long time session bass guitarist Tony Perkins and percussionist drummer Mark Ludwig both of Jefferson City.  Cold Blue cooks up some of the best nonstop jam sessions with injections of their own original music as well as music from Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, SRV, Freddie King and many other great blues legends.

Megan Boyer Band

The Megan Boyer Band is an acoustic Blues and Roots band hailing from Central Missouri. MBB plays everything from traditional blues and bluegrass to unplugged classic rock. The big-smiling, big-voiced, big-hearted, fearless front-woman of the band, Ms. Megan Boyer, is a natural born blues ‘n roots singer/guitarist guaranteed to rock the house and delight audiences. Throw into the mix the sixty-odd years of solid musicianship and dedication to the craft represented by Tim Shields and Jimmy Steffan, and the megan Boyer Band might just be one heck of a train ride from Bluestown to Rootsville. “It’s Like Dat!” www.meganboyerband.com
